I'm a native of Ashton, Wisconsin, where I grew up on our family's 120-acre dairy farm. I moved back in 2011 after we remodeled our 1860s limestone home. I'm the fourth generation to live here. I started taking photos when I was 11. While studying journalism at UW-Madison, I grew fond of photojournalism, which I practiced for 35 years at the Wisconsin 4 H Office. After retiring in 2008, I started Brabender Photography. I still enjoy taking photos of people in action, but I especially love documenting the beauty of country life, whether it's the local home talent baseball team playing on Sunday afternoon or the local church silhouetted against the setting sun. And to me there's no place more beautiful than Ashton. It's great to be home again.
